If your work involves running, financing or advising a business, wherever you are, we'd like to hear from you. Send news, suggest a Q&A, pitch an article, describe a company's change or share data. We cannot promise publication for every submission.
News and press releases
Companies, start-ups, investors, accountants, advisers, public bodies and PR agencies can bring us announcements from any country. These might concern results, a funding round, a launch, a new site, an appointment, an acquisition or a change in how a company works.
What to send
- Paste the announcement into your email, attach a Word file or provide a link to it.
- Specify its release date and time. Include any embargo restrictions.
- Include at least one image, either your own or one you have permission to share. Add captions and photographer credits. Show the place, work or people where possible, rather than a logo.
- Identify someone we can approach for details and provide their email address.
Subject line: News: your headline
Q&As
Put yourself or a colleague forward for an interview about running or growing a business. We welcome founders, chief executives, operations and finance leaders, investors and advisers, such as a founder on raising money.
What to send
- Give the proposed interviewee's name, job and organisation.
- Describe their current work in two or three lines.
- Outline possible discussion topics, with three or four suggestions.
- Attach an up-to-date portrait, with permission to share it.
Interviews can take place over a phone or video call, or through emailed questions. We retain the interviewee's own language while shortening answers where needed. They confirm their quotes with us ahead of publication.
Subject line: Q&A: name, organisation
Contributed articles
Bring practical knowledge from your own work in business to an article bearing your name. Explain what a tax change means for a company's accounts, findings from a move to new software, a rule affecting young firms or lessons from a decade of running a business.
What to send
- Begin with a brief proposal. Explain the subject, what readers would learn and your relevant experience. Wait for agreement before sending the full article.
- The agreed article should contain 700 to 1,500 words of original work. It must be unpublished, including on your own website and social accounts.
- Keep the advice practical and support it with evidence. Identify the reports or datasets behind figures, and give names and locations for examples.
- The byline must identify an individual author, rather than an organisation. Include that person's headshot and a biography of two or three sentences.
- Supply images with permission for sharing, plus a description and credit for every image.
- Disclose in one line any sales, funding or other benefit connecting you or your employer to something discussed in the article. That disclosure appears beneath the article.
Subject line: Article pitch: your topic
Company stories
Tell us about a company in any country that has changed how it works: a new way of working, a process rebuilt, a team reorganised or a second site opened. We welcome accounts from companies, their staff and the advisers who helped.
What to send
- Identify the company and the people or teams affected.
- Describe the difference the change has made, using available measurements. Examples include time saved, costs cut, output raised and changes in staff turnover or customer complaints.
- Give start or completion dates and identify those responsible for planning, running and paying for the work.
- Provide images you are authorised to share. Anyone pictured must have consented to their use.
A company story may lead to an invitation for someone involved to take part in a Q&A.
Subject line: Company story: company, country
Data and research
Share new measurements of how businesses are doing: markets, lending, tax, start-up numbers, technology take-up or productivity. They can come from research, surveys, regulatory work or monitoring you carry out.
What to send
- Provide access to the complete report or dataset through a link. A summary alone is insufficient.
- Briefly describe the collection method in one or two lines and specify the years represented.
- State when the findings become public and whether an embargo applies.
- Provide contact details for someone able to explain the research methods.
Subject line: Data: your subject
What we do not take
- Material intended to sell products or give a company exposure without a substantive business story.
- Unsupported assertions with no identifiable report, dataset or person behind them.
- Articles that have appeared elsewhere.
- Images shared without the necessary permission.
- Submissions unrelated to business.
