Taiwan Startup Terrace brought 12 Taiwanese startups to IFA Berlin 2026, securing eight cooperation agreements after attracting more than 3,000 visitors to its national pavilion. The delegation showcased businesses across artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and smart healthcare, with several companies signing agreements with European counterparts. VMFi reached the IFA Pitch Battle final, while seven Taiwanese teams progressed to the semi-finals. The Berlin programme also included visits to German business and research organisations, followed by a Taiwan-Germany partnership agreement at CIC Berlin.
European Agreements Signed
Organised by Taiwan Startup Terrace, the government-backed startup hub under Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, the pavilion featured Next Integral, Synstream, Deeli AI, Aiplux, VMFi, Alpenglow Tek and Optiqb in artificial intelligence; Turing Space, Janus Cyber and DeCloak in cybersecurity; and FREE Bionics and Precise Bigdata in smart healthcare.
VMFi signed distribution and reseller agreements with Germany’s Ryke GmbH and Estonia’s TrueTouch AI OÜ for its TransDisplay real-time translation counters. The company also completed five memoranda of understanding with partners from several countries during the show.
Turing Space signed a three-way MoU with Germany’s PolyCrypt and Neuland AI, while DeCloak agreed an MoU with Polish robot-platform maker MAB Robotics. Janus Cyber also completed a cross-border agreement during IFA Berlin.
Pitch Battle Recognition
The delegation recorded a strong competitive showing at the IFA Pitch Battle. Seven of the 93 participating startups reached the semi-finals, with VMFi advancing to the final as the sole Taiwanese team to do so.
The agreements involving VMFi, Turing Space and DeCloak were signed at the pavilion opening on 4 September and witnessed by Ambassador Gu Rui-Sheng, Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany.
Taiwan Germany Startup Links
Beyond the exhibition, Taiwan Startup Terrace met with Berlin Partner, Germany Trade & Invest, Siemens and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence. The visits formed part of its effort to establish two-way landing arrangements between Taiwan and Germany.
At Taiwan Roadshow Night at CIC Berlin, also known as Venture Café Berlin, Taiwan Startup Terrace signed an MoU with the campus. The agreement establishes a framework for reciprocal soft-landing, shared space and resource matchmaking, while the event included startup pitches, an overview of Taiwan’s ecosystem and a Taiwan-Germany R&D funding programme open to European founders.
A Continuing European Presence
Taiwan Startup Terrace intends to build on the IFA Berlin programme through trade shows, matchmaking, overseas bases and cross-border partnerships. Its stated focus is on helping Taiwanese startups establish operations in Germany and expand across Europe.
