LUXE Bidet brought its “Break Up With Toilet Paper” campaign to bars in New York and Southern California throughout September. The San Diego-based bidet brand used posters, coasters and bathroom displays to encourage consumers to switch from wiping to washing. The activity arrived as a 50% US tariff on Canadian wood pulp and a 25% Canadian duty on American toilet paper have prompted projections that premium tissue manufacturing costs could rise by as much as 20%. Campaign materials also directed consumers towards a 20% discount on a LUXE Bidet.

A Barroom Breakup

Posters appeared above urinals and inside bathroom stalls, using a rotary phone and a toilet paper roll to portray a breakup call. Another creative placed toilet paper at a divorce lawyer’s conference table with its own set of papers.

Coasters carried the campaign into nightlife venues. One read, “Dear toilet paper, consider this your final flush,” while another used a scratch-and-sniff peach to promote washing with water.

Making Washing Accessible

Every poster and coaster led consumers to a discount on the NEO 185 PLUS, a non-electric bidet attachment. The product includes LUXE Bidet’s patented Slide-In Installation, EZ-Lift Hinges and 360° Self-Clean Mode.

The brand said no plumber or electricity is required. Founded in 2008, LUXE Bidet produces affordable, easy-to-install bidet attachments designed to make washing with water simple and accessible.

A Timely Consumer Message

LUXE Bidet is positioning the campaign around renewed pressure on toilet paper prices. The brand pointed to the consumer shift seen during pandemic-era shortages in 2020, when more Americans tried bidets for the first time.
