Tencent Cloud and Simpaisa have entered a strategic collaboration to assess a large-scale cloud transformation for the fintech and digital payments company. The initiative will examine a target environment spanning Simpaisa’s wider technology ecosystem and supporting infrastructure. It includes a proposed environment of more than 50 compute instances, over 50 Kubernetes pods and multiple database technologies. The work is intended to improve infrastructure efficiency while supporting the resilience, governance, security and regulatory requirements of financial services applications.

Infrastructure Assessment Underway

Simpaisa is working with Tencent Cloud to validate an architecture designed around its operational and technology requirements as its business footprint expands. Tencent Cloud is contributing cloud infrastructure expertise, migration support and architectural guidance across compute workloads, Kubernetes-based applications, databases, messaging infrastructure, monitoring services and security capabilities.

The assessment will also consider cloud-native security controls alongside technical and business objectives, allowing Simpaisa to evaluate compliance and operational requirements while pursuing infrastructure optimisation.

Rachel Xie, General Manager of Tencent Cloud MENA, Operations, Channel Development and Marketing of Tencent Cloud International, said:

“As digital payments and financial services continue to evolve, fintech companies are increasingly looking for technology platforms that can support growth, operational efficiency, security, and regulatory obligations simultaneously. We are pleased to collaborate with Simpaisa as it explores its cloud transformation journey. By leveraging Tencent Cloud's infrastructure capabilities, financial-grade technology foundation and security expertise, we look forward to supporting Simpaisa in building a scalable and resilient technology environment that can support innovation and long-term growth in the digital financial services sector.”

Supporting Fintech Growth

The proposed cloud environment is intended to support Simpaisa’s long-term plans for modernisation and innovation, while preserving the reliability and security required for its fintech operations. The company’s platform supports payment collection and payout services for businesses and financial institutions.

Saqlain Raza, Chief Technology Officer of Simpaisa, said:

“We are pleased to collaborate with Tencent Cloud on this strategic cloud transformation initiative. Tencent Cloud's financial-grade technology foundation, cloud infrastructure capabilities and security expertise provide us with a strong platform to evaluate new opportunities for infrastructure optimization, modernization and innovation. Through this collaboration, we look forward to strengthening our technology foundation and supporting the continued growth of our fintech business.”

Saudi Arabia Expansion

The collaboration comes as Simpaisa expands its regional presence. The company has incorporated Simpaisa Arabia, a local Saudi entity that will offer its digital payment services to businesses and financial institutions in the market.

The Saudi Arabian operation extends Simpaisa’s payment collection and payout capabilities into another key market in the region.

Technology Foundation For Scale

By assessing a cloud operating model built around financial-grade infrastructure, integrated security capabilities and technical support, the two companies are setting out a framework for Simpaisa to examine its next stage of infrastructure development. The collaboration pairs cloud modernisation planning with the operational demands of a payments business handling sensitive financial and transaction data.
